Salisbury, CT | Historic Farmhouse | Guest Suite
Historic homes come with ample charm but also challenges: angled ceilings, floor level changes, asymmetrical windows, and construction mysteries. We all loved the details here so we gave this quirky Guest Suite a sensitive makeover including a renovated main bathroom. Upgrades like a bigger shower and vanity plus radiant heated floors better meet today’s needs, but we saved the original clawfoot tub, now set off by aquamarine tile. In the family area & main bedroom, the difficult window pairs were made to match visually by dressing the custom curtains on the shorter windows up to the level of the taller ones, then installing dummy bamboo shades in front of what is wallspace, not a matching window. Last, we created that giant custom bed onsite in denim upholstery with a thick headboard so guests can now sit up in bed under the low angle above.
